Since 2018, Driven to Protect has been helping to develop and test in-vehicle alcohol detection technology that will determine if a driver is impaired with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) at or above the applicable legal limit and prevent the vehicle from moving. The Initiative has also worked in communities across the state to educate Virginians about the dangers of impaired driving and with partners like the Virginia Department of Education to develop virtual lessons for students about safe driving practices and the science behind the Driver Alcohol Detection System for Safety (DADSS) technology.
