2022 Future Leaders in Mobility Program

In August, the Driven to Protect team hosted 16 rising high school juniors and seniors at the ACTS Transportation Safety Center in Leesburg, VA as part of the Future Leaders in Mobility Program put on by Volkswagen Group of America in partnership with the Greater Washington Urban League. The program, in its second year, teaches students in underserved communities in the Washington, DC metro area about the range of career opportunities in the automotive industry

Driven to Protect developed and facilitated three STEM stations for students to experience the DADSS technology firsthand and learn from the data analysts, engineers, and technicians behind the technology. Students worked together to assemble a benchtop breath system, then tested and analyzed the data from the benchtop system they built as well as from the breath sensors in the demonstration vehicle. Their engagement with and questions about the technology were impressive, and many were vocal in support of its potential to save lives.

Driven to Protect has collaborated with the Future Leaders in Mobility Program for the past two years, and we are excited that the program organizers have requested our participation next year as well. We love working with young leaders and fostering interest in safe driving technology.
