Driven to Protect at the Neptune Festival

In September 2019, the Driven to Protect team attended the annual Neptune Festival in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The three-day festival covered 32 city blocks along the boardwalk and attracted thousands of people from Virginia and across the U.S.

Festival attendees were able to interact with the demonstration vehicle to learn about the DADSS technology and its real-world application to prevent drunk driving. Some visitors to the Driven to Protect exhibit had seen the initiative featured in a local news story and were eager to test out the prototype sensors for themselves. There was much enthusiasm about the potential for vehicle-integrated alcohol detection technology, from both the general public and members of the traffic safety community.

We heard many stories from people who have personally been affected by drunk driving, and they were excited to learn that Virginia is the first state to partner with the DADSS Program. We enjoyed educating visitors from the Commonwealth and beyond about the mission and goals of Driven to Protect!
